Zap's Wrap August 3rd

Last week we hosted our 2nd Annual Zappy Awards! We celebrated 1 year of the Lighthouse, 9 venture rounds, revenue, hires, and the magic of simply staying alive (:

We presented a mix of silly and serious awards. A few notables to mention:

• Joey, Most Valuable Founder, for being the most helpful to others

• Grantly, Rookie of the Year

• Paul, Most Resilient

• Tyler, Pivot of the Year

• Travis, Lifetime Achievement Award

• Then a whole bunch of ridiculous awards that I will keep to myself (: haha

Startup things I think are cool

• This year, there will be a Tech & Startup Job Fair at 3686 on September 16th. The goal is simple: put the best tech companies and startups in one room with Nashville's tech talent. If hiring or building your talent brand here matters to you right now, hmu!!!

• I hungout with team Sylvan Health! Rhodes and Matt. They actually acqui-hired one of my first investments, Vivy. I am excited to be an investor in their business and find ways to help them.

• I caught up with Chris, who is building Heard. Heard is building the decision intelligence platform for the music industry. They are currently looking for 2 folks to add to their customer success team.

• I am closing on my 10th SPV into a Lighthouse founder!!!

• Engineers, engineers, engineers. Hiring for many portcos has ramped up and to no surprise, I need to find more ENGINEERS.

• I had a founder dinner with my fav music/entertainment founders, Ira, Chris, Johnny, and Nikki! This crew has been getting together for over 2 years now and it’s incredible to watch everyone’s business grow.

  • A meetup exclusively for folks who work in operations at tech companies. Any type of ops fits in though!

• Founder Finance 201, Thursday, September 10th @ 12pm

  • We are going to be covering everything you need to know about your numbers to go raise $$$!!!! Plus lunch.

• Nashville Customer Success Community, Thursday, September 10th @ 5:30pm

  • A meetup exclusively for folks who work in customer success.

• Lighthouse Open House, Wednesday, September 16th @ 9am

  • We’re excited to host a partner pop up during 3686 and give folks the chance to come see the house and grab coffee from Paradeisos!

Personal

My dad came to town and we made a trip to see Mammoth Caves in Kentucky. I had no idea that Mammoth Caves are the biggest and longest cave system in the US! My dad was very fascinated with our stop at Buccees too lol.

After traveling for 5 weeks in a row, I was sooo happy to be at home on Sunday and work so I actually feel ready for the week. Lots of work to do!!!
